Yachtfabrics
Vessel segment 05 / 08 · Houseboat

A home that never leaves the water

Permanent moorings sit over standing water with high ambient humidity all year. Unlike a boat in seasonal use, nothing ever dries out between trips: the load is continuous, the heating is domestic, and the hull under the bedroom floor stays at water temperature through every season.

Recommendation

20 mm is the right specification for continuous occupancy, where the gap has to keep working under a full-size domestic mattress every night of the year. Guest cabins used a few weeks a year are fine at 15 mm.

Installation

Three steps, no tools

01
Lift the cushion

Remove the berth cushion and clear the board. No fasteners, no adhesive, nothing to drill.

02
Lay the fabric

Place the cut panel over the full berth area, running the length of the berth. Edges may be trimmed with scissors on board.

03
Replace and close

Set the cushion back on top. The gap works from the first night and stays open under sleeping load.
