Unheated compartments, bunks against bare steel

Where there is no insulated lining, the bunk sits against plating that is at sea temperature and drips when the compartment is warmed by bodies alone. Crews come off deck wet, and the accommodation has no drying capacity of its own.

Recommendation

20 mm is specified where condensation loads are heaviest and the structure is uninsulated. It holds the gap open under heavy-duty mattresses and keeps the underside clear of standing moisture.

Installation

Three steps, no tools

01
Lift the cushion

Remove the berth cushion and clear the board. No fasteners, no adhesive, nothing to drill.

02
Lay the fabric

Place the cut panel over the full berth area, running the length of the berth. Edges may be trimmed with scissors on board.

03
Replace and close

Set the cushion back on top. The gap works from the first night and stays open under sleeping load.
